George Gould
Gould's influence:
George Gould and Emily Dickinson's lifelong bond was built on a shared passion for literature and creativity. George Gould, born in February of 1827, Gould was a lifelong friend of Emily's brother Austin Dickinson. Some theorists suggest that Emily and George were even engaged for an unknown period of time in 1850; the theory was first proposed by Knompf in 1930 in her essay entitled The Life and Mind of Emily Dickinson, although the book has been out of print and ignored for more than 60 years. However, this proposal was supposedly halted by the interference and rejection of the marriage by Emily's father Edward Dickinson; and in 1862, Gould married a much younger woman following his move out West in search for gold. This could have potentially been the catalyst in much of Emily's early poetry as Emily spent much of her time locked in her fathers house, potentially awaiting Gould; although it is important to note that Emily spited the concept of marriage in it's entirety.
Although we cannot be exactly sure of when in February Gould was born, we can assume he was an Aquarius. Aquarius is the eleventh sign in the zodiac. It is an air sign, and is ruled by Uranus.
